Podstawowe informacje o Konkursie Biblijnym im.
Sł. Bożego Kard. Augusta Hlonda
Pierwszy Konkurs Biblijny odbył się w roku szkolnym 2001/2002 w Rumi i objął swoim zasięgiem szkoły rumskie. W kolejnych edycjach rozszerzał swój zasięg i od kilku lat obejmuje całe województwo pomorskie. W XI – tej edycji Konkursu wzięło udział ok. 550 szkół i przedszkoli oraz 55 tys. uczniów. XII edycja to już ponad 70 tys. uczestników.
Organizowany jest przez Diecezjalny Instytut Akcji Katolickiej archidiecezji gdańskiej oraz jej oddziały parafialne, przy współudziale katechetów. W tym roku współorganizatorem Konkursu jest Fundacja ”SŁOWO”. Konkurs Biblijny im. Kard. Hlonda jest konkursem zamieszczonym w Wojewódzkim Kalendarzu Imprez Kuratorium Oświaty w Gdańsku. Laureaci Konkursu otrzymują dodatkowe punkty podczas rekrutacji na kolejne stopnie kształcenia.
Tegorocznym tematem Konkursu jest Ewangelia wg św. Mateusza.
Etap wstępny Konkursu przeprowadzany jest w klasach, kolejny etap to szkolny, rejonowy(15 rejonów w całym województwie)
i wojewódzko –metropolitalny. Finał odbywa się w Rumi.
W klasach 1-3 szkół podstawowych i w przedszkolach dzieci wykonują prace plastyczne. W klasach IV do VI szkół podstawowych, gimnazjach i szkołach ponadgimnazjalnych są to testy pisemne.
Konkurs ma na celu pogłębienie znajomości i upowszechnianie wśród dzieci i młodzieży Starego i Nowego Testamentu.
Obecnie jest to jeden z największych Konkursów w Polsce.
